- I am an avid user of MICROSOFT'S Flight Simulator program. I once
- held a private pilots license and always felt uncomfortable with
- radio navigation. Therefore, I was a fair-weather (VFR) pilot.
-
- Flight Simulator is a perfect way to sharpen your navigation
- skills. Flying the plane is secondary to me even though I always
- reset wind speed and directions to practice cross wind landing
- procedures and updated ATIS information and active runway.
-
- I generally fly at night setting my maximum ceiling about 1200
- feet. I try to fly to the runway and break out of the clouds at
- the proper heading.
-
- Anyway, I got tired of looking up information in the manual
- concerning each individual airport and VOR station frequencies.
- So, I began stealing other peoples routines and I came up with
- this little program.
-
-
-
- FSPILOT is menu driven. It has on-board HELP and is quite easy to
- use. I'm sure the current version has a few roaches, but nothing
- serious. It will print out specific flight plans with all of the
- information that you will need to set radio frequencies (NAV's
- and COMM). It prints default active runways, world coordinates
- and altitudes for each airport that comes on the original scenery
- disk. (Hopefully, some user will insert the capability to load
- information from each individual scenery disk.)
-
- It also SAVES and LOADS flight plans to current disk/directory.
- That way, you can recall them anytime. But, once you print a
- complete plan just store it with your other flight information.
- You can file your own flight plans and EDIT any of the
- information concerning the departure and destination airports.
- You will enter ESTIMATED groundspeed and FUEL per hour and ALL
- checkpoints. You can presently store up to 20 waypoints. Quite
- enough unless you are going cross-country and you would be filing
- new flight plans anyway. FSPILOT has a perpetual calendar and a
- simple chain calculator for use in filing flight plans. A weather
- forecasting module allows you to set current conditions and receive
- a weather report.
-
-
-
-
- FSPILOT is completely USER-SUPPORTED and anyone who contributes
- will be properly credited for their contribution. We want to
- include airport graphics with LOCALIZER information that can be
- printed hardcopy along with the airport's VOR radials. We are
- working on a pilot's logbook for version 1.2.
-
- Since we started this program on the LINX.BBS (713) 440-7364 it
- has been downloaded by over 100 users. It has shown up on a
- Dallas Bulletin Board and one in New York. There are millions of
- FLIGHT SIMULATOR users who will find FSPILOT a real time saver
- and we are certain that it will be fully supported by users.
-
- DON'T send any contributions to anyone. This program has so many
- glommed routines that paying royalties would be a budgeting
- nightmare! If you like the program and would like to work on it
- yourself please upload your revisions to LINX.BBS in Houston, Tx.
- We will keep all of the latest revisions posted and update the
- credits. Please feel free to share and distribute FSPILOT. If you
- got the EXE version the B.A.S.I.C. source is available on LINX.
